Get your vaccination at walk-ins across the city

The Sussex COVID-19 Vaccination programme is offering more walk-in vaccinations over the next few weeks. 75% of people in Brighton have had their first dose, but rates are lower for those aged 18-39 year olds (60%)

PLEASE GET YOUR VACCINATION

If you, or anyone you know, hasn’t started to get vaccinated yet, please don’t put it off any longer.  Rates of COVID-19 infections remain high. And, we still have high numbers of unvaccinated adults in our community.

Nationally, nine in ten of the UK adult population have had their first jab and three in four are fully vaccinated after having both doses. But here in Brighton & Hove numbers are lower.

So far, around 75% of adults in Brighton & Hove have had their first vaccine dose, and 68% have had both doses. Take-up is especially low among 18-29 year olds with just 44% having had both doses. More than half of 16 and 17 year olds have already had a first dose.

With COVID circulating it’s important that everyone takes up the vaccine offer, especially because so many more are mixing socially again in our homes and venues across the city.

Booster vaccinations are now being given out (see below for dates, times and locations).

The latest estimates suggest that vaccines have saved 105,000 lives, prevented at least 143,600 hospital cases in England and 24,000,000 infections (up to 20 August).

Walk in vaccinations

Anyone aged over 16 year is eligible to have life saving vaccinations.

Walk in services are available. Just turn up and walk in for your first vaccination, no appointment is necessary. Since Monday 30th August, walk ins have been available for 16/17 year olds in Brighton at the former Topshop store in Churchill Square.

Pop-up and mobile vaccination sessions are taking place in various locations across the county to deliver first vaccinations (see below for details).

Second jabs are also available at some of the walk-ins, if it has been at least eight weeks since the first dose.

Getting your vaccine is easy, just bring one form of ID (photo ID not required) and your NHS number, if you know it. Dates and times are subject to change at short notice, so do double check by clicking the link below.

If you already have an appointment booked at a vaccination centre please continue to attend this

The Sussex COVID-19 vaccination programme has produced some frequently asked questions for younger people aged 16 -17 years old.

12-15 year olds

Some children aged 12 to 15 can already get vaccinated against COVID-19 (click the link below for more information).

In Sussex, plans have been developed and over the next six weeks each school will be offered a visit to provide the vaccination for 12 to 15 year old students. Parental, guardian or carer consent will be sought. Every parent, guardian or carer will receive a letter with the details of this session for your school, the consent process, and next steps.

Information for anyone needing an AZ vaccine

There is now lower demand for the AstraZeneca vaccine after the younger age groups have been offered the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, however we want to reassure anyone who needs a second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine these are still available.

Vaccination services have supplies for the patients that they know need a second vaccine of AstraZeneca - but it may not always be available at walk in sessions. Please call 0300 303 8060 (Brighton Racecourse vaccination site) and explain you need a 2nd dose AZ, they will be able to advise you which service is offering this.

Please check the details of what vaccine type is being used at each session on our website before attending to avoid disappointment.

COVID cases in our city.

23 September 2021

In the 7 days up to 17 September (based on data published on 22 September) we had 489 confirmed new cases of COVID-19 in Brighton & Hove. This is:

  • down 33% on the previous seven days
  • equivalent to a weekly rate of 167.6 per 100,000 residents
  • lower than the South East which was 217.1 per 100,000
  • lower than the rate for England, which was 258 per 100,000

What this means for Brighton & Hove

Cases in Brighton & Hove have continued to fall in most age groups over the last week, however similar to the rest of the country we are seeing an increase in cases in secondary school aged children and young people.

I want to thank school staff, families and pupils for everything they are doing to prevent further transmission.

Covid vaccinations are now widely available to anyone aged 16 and over, and in the last few days the NHS Covid vaccination programme for 12-15 year olds began rolling out locally.

Visit the Brighton & Hove City Council website for more information
