Conifer Lodge
Conifer Lodge is a residential care home, which supports people living with a range of physical and mental health conditions. They can support up to 26 people however at the time of the inspection, there were 18 people living at the home. This assessment was completed due to the length of time since the previous inspection.
People’s safety was paramount and they were supported well. Staff knew people well and received the appropriate training and support to ensure they could fulfil their roles. Accidents and incidents were addressed adequately, and the registered manager had good oversight of these to drive learning and improvement in the home.
Staff worked with people and their relatives to promote person-centred care. Care plans were detailed and included life histories, likes and dislikes, along with clear risk assessments and ways to minimise these. People were offered choices and maintained control of their lives and what they wanted to do. Staff were caring and worked well as a team. They also liaised with external professionals when needed, and we received positive feedback from those who worked alongside the home.
The home was well-led with a range of quality assurance checks being undertaken regularly. People, relatives and staff spoke positively about the management team and their approachability. All would be confident in raising any concerns and these being addressed quickly. The registered manager understood their responsibilities, including notifying the Care Quality Commission (CQC) when needed.
