Sussex resident receives care at home via Virtual Wards

A Sussex resident was able to receive hospital level care at home using Urgent Community Response (UCR) teams and Virtual Wards.
Alice, a mum of two young children from the Haywards Heath area, became unwell at home and was worried about how she would manage while caring for her family. Instead of being admitted to hospital, she was supported by the UCR team and placed on a Virtual Ward, meaning she could receive intensive monitoring and expert clinical care while remaining exactly where she felt safest – with her children, in her own home.
With the support and care of the UCR, Alice recovered comfortably in familiar surroundings. Daily check-ins, remote monitoring, and reassurance – knowing help was just a call away – meant she could focus on getting better without the added stress of being away from her family.
