This document describes the health and social care projects that Healthwatch Brighton and Hove has worked on during the past year and those we determined that we were unable to take forward for various reasons. It also describes the work we are currently working on or are actively considering and which we will take forward into the next year (April 2024 – April 2025).

A new provider for Non-Emergency Patient Transport in Sussex
Following a detailed procurement process including robust and thorough validation checks, NHS Sussex has appointed ERS Transition Limited, trading as EMED Group, to be the new provider of Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS) for the people in Sussex.

Supporting the development of our local Emergency Department The Second Workshop
In May 2023, Healthwatch were invited by the University Sussex Hospitals Trust (UHSx) to attend an Emergency Department Redevelopment Engagement workshop, to read the full report click here. In September 2023, Healthwatch attended the second workshop in the series, and we were able to find out the progress UHSx has been making to date.

Healthwatch visits Mill View Hospital and Rutland Gardens as part of the PLACE programme
Healthwatch Brighton and Hove conducted visits to Mill View Hospital and Rutland Gardens which are both run by the Sussex Partnership Foundation NHS Trust (SPFT). Six of our trained volunteers conducted these visits.
Our visits to Mill View Hospital and Rutland Gardens were part of PLACE or ‘Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment’. This report provides the volunteer's observations from their visits. PLACE is delivered as a national programme, and all data is collected and formally analysed by NHS Digital. They will publish detailed reports after the programme has ended.
