Have your say about a proposed changes to local cataract surgery services

The aim of the proposal is to provide a new way of meeting the surgical needs of patients with cataracts, and will:
- Increase capacity to carry out more operations
- Reduce waiting time for patients
- Create a centre of excellence for cataract surgery at Southlands.
The benefits of this proposal include:
- Reduction in the wait time for patients needing cataract surgery
- Improved health outcomes associated with reduced wait time
- Improved utilisation of theatre capacity at Southlands.
Although there will be no change to current pre-surgery and post-surgery appointments and assessments, they recognise that this proposal will involve longer travel for many patients and their family and friends and unpaid carers. Therefore, they want to hear your views on how the proposals might impact your experience of care.
