The Trust will be part of the rapid national investigation into NHS maternity services announced by the Secretary of State for Health on 23rd June 2025.

"There is no more important priority for us than the safety of everyone using our services, and we will be fully supporting this investigation to help improve maternity care at UHSussex and across the wider NHS.

"Our maternity teams work incredibly hard to do their very best for everyone in their care and have been working with outside experts to improve standards of safety and quality over the last three years. Progress has been reported on this website and to our Trust Board.

"It is important that the part of the national investigation that includes UHSussex produces a clear understanding of the circumstances and causes of the nine tragic cases it will be looking at here. But it is also important that we continue to reassure everyone having a baby at one of our maternity units that they are safe places to give birth. If you are concerned, please do contact your midwife or our maternity service with any questions you have."
