Welcome to our new volunteer: Nick Gorvett

Healthwatch is pleased to welcome Nick Gorvett to the team.
Head and shoulders shot, Volunteer, Nick Gorvett

"Until my retirement four years ago, I worked as a senior Manager / Director in the NHS for 38 years. I started as a graduate management trainee, holding posts - primarily in large acute Trusts - across the Country, including several in Brighton.

For the last 16 years of my working career I worked at the Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust including as Director of Performance Management, Director of Corporate Infrastructure and Director of Estates and Facilities. So I'm well acquainted with the challenges, complexities and difficulties in managing acute care and its environment. I really enjoyed my career and always endeavoured to improve patient and staff experiences. I see Healthwatch as a really positive and constructive way of contributing towards these aims for the local community and providing a challenging but balanced approach.

I live in Ovingdean where my spare time is taken up with walking Lenny (my Golden Retriever), learning languages (Italian last year, basic French next), travelling widely, supporting Welsh rugby and training in the Korean martial art of Choi Kwang do (I'm a black belt 3rd Dan, Head Instructor and Examiner).

I'm married to Paula, a project director in the NHS and we have one daughter, Bethan, about to start year 2 at Brighton University."
