Meet our volunteer - Lynne

"I have been involved in a variety of research projects, but the one I get a real kick out of are the hospital visits. This gives me a great sense of achievement, as a volunteer."

Lynne joined us in 2017 and as one of our experienced Enter & View volunteers, has helped us on many projects. We asked her to share some of her experience of volunteering for us.

Lynne's View

"I have been involved in a variety of research projects, but the one I get a real kick out of are the hospital visits. We have a checklist to record positive changes compared to the last visit. This gives me a great sense of achievement, as a volunteer.

I love working with the team, volunteers and staff. Most of all, I enjoy meeting patients. Memorable moments are created any time I “bond” with a patient, gaining their trust and uncovering a nugget of information that clarifies the source of a problem. This happens when you get beyond the set questions, and to the narrative of ‘tell me more’. It is satisfying when some solutions can be found relatively easily.

Healthwatch get things done. Healthwatch research and reports regularly result in action. Even if the changes are sometimes small, they are changes for the better."
