"I am based in central Brighton, am married with grown up step children. For most of my career I worked as a senior service development manager and programme manager, mostly in the NHS, but also with social care and the third sector.

My experience includes planning, service improvement and commissioning of Primary care, mental health and community services.

I have a particular interest in working across health and social care to improve service delivery and experience of care, working in care of the elderly, long term conditions and end of life care.

I am still working, now at Macmillan Cancer Support, with a remit that includes helping staff working with people with cancer to have the best quality of life possible. But as I prepare for retirement (whoop!) I have been thinking about how to build local networks and about what I can do to give something back.

Volunteering for Healthwatch, seems to fit quite well. I can use my experience, and meet new people, doing something of value to help patients. It is also a flexible commitment, and not having to sign up for a regular session is helpful as I continue to have other irregular responsibilities. Plus, I get to walk more around the area, that helps keep me fit."
