By now some of you may have seen the recent media coverage regarding waiting times in the Royal Sussex County Hospital as detailed below:
“PATIENTS are waiting longer in A&E at a Sussex hospital than almost anywhere else in the country. New figures reveal one in five people going to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton waited more than four hours before being seen and either admitted or discharged. The almost 8,000 delayed patients had visited the hospital between April and June this year, giving it the second highest rate of A&E waits in England.”
As a result Healthwatch Brighton and Hove is urging patients and the public to get in touch about their A&E experiences, whether it be praise, criticism or ideas for improvement.
We will use that information to inform our further work on the A&E at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. We recently visited the A&E department to prepare for a range of Enter and View visits that we will be doing and your experiences will help us understand the important things to look out for.
